And another successful tournament has come to a close.
While medals and trophies are great to win, what most of the competitors came away with was respect for the art of others and friendships that will last for years.
Karate is not a team sport, and advancement is solely the desire of the individuals. Few, who do not share our love for the art can understand the journey we embark on.
These tournaments give competitors a chance to meet and compete against others who are on their own journey. Friendships that are made at these events last for lifetimes.
Thanks to Professor Steve Stewart for hosting this annual event, and to Melanie Stewart who made sure all the paperwork and registrations were in order ensuring an easy admission for the 280 participants.
Special thanks to the volunteers who did the judging and score keeping for the event. Your efforts were very much appreciated!
